The compact truck has a sleek and simple design. Exterior embellishments are kept to the minimum, and the angles are smooth, not severe. The grille is really the only place where Ford lets the Ranger shine bright. The grille looks like a mouth and flaring nostrils, as if it is a bull ready to charge. An 8 or 9-foot bed length is available as well. Fog lights and chrome accents can be added too.

The electronic stability control has three modes, ESP On, ESP Sport, and ESP Off. The sport mode allows for higher thresholds of wheel slip and drift angles, and the off mode turns the stability program off altogether. An available Performance Package adds a limited-slip differential, even stiffer suspension settings, two-piece perforated and ventilated front disc brakes, and an AMG steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather. The C63's exterior gets several modifications. The 2.3L Duratec is surprisingly quick, though a bit throaty. From what I've read, it's pretty highly regarded, and I'm pleased with it overall. The only problem is the gear-hunting from the 4-speed automatic when going over hills and mountains. That's to be expected in a 4-cylinder automatic in a fairly large vehicle. But for daily driving, it's wonderful. The CD4E automatic transmission has had some past issues, but from what I've seen and read, they're mostly in the past. With reasonable driving style and proper routine maintenance, I think it will do just fine.

HOWARD WILNER V12 monsters => The Forester 2.5XT is where the major changes start to occur. The standard boxer engine is turbocharged and produces up to 224 horsepower. That's quite a boost from the 2.5X trim. The XT also gets a telescoping steering wheel. This steering wheel can retract and extend to allow for a more comfortable driving experience. The pedals are covered in aluminum alloy as well. The XT has an audio upgrade, too, with a 6-disc in-dash CD changer. The highest trim, the 2.5XT Limited, gives buyers the turbocharged boxer engine and the vehicle dynamics control provides superior traction and brake control. Also, an upgrade to Bluetooth capability can be added to the XT Limited trim.

The 2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG features a 6.3-liter V8 that makes 451 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The all-aluminum 32-valve V8 has variable valve timing and a variable intake manifold. Mercedes says it can rev freely over 7000 rpm. The engine sends its power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission that can be shifted manually via the gearshift or steering wheel paddles. The transmission has a rev-matching feature that blips the throttle on downshifts. Mercedes says the C63 will be capable of a 4.3-second 0-60 mph sprint.

Volkswagen has trimmed the interior with its own materials, textures and colors. It will come standard with two power sliding doors with power windows. Traction control 2009 Volkswagen Routan and electronic stability control will be standard. Seventeen-inch tires will be standard. Volkswagen says it has tuned the Routan for European ride and handling characteristics. The engine choices will come from Chrysler. The base engine will be a 197-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 and the top-line engine will be a 253-hp 4.0-liter V6. VW will not use the 3.3-liter V6 that Chrysler uses as its base engine. Both engines will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy numbers have not been released, but we expect 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway for the Routan, just like its Chrysler counterparts.

It will come standard with two power sliding doors with power windows. Available features will include leather upholstery, a power liftgate, a conversation mirror, rear DVD entertainment with nine-inch screens for the second- and third-row seats, and a touch screen navigation system with a 20-gigabyte hard drive to hold music and picture files, as well as navigation map information. Other available features will include HID headlights, a sunroof, a universal garage door opener, power adjustable pedals, and Sirius Backset TV.

The C63's exterior gets several modifications. It has a unique dual power dome hood, a front fascia with larger air intakes and side air outlets, chrome-ringed fog lights, a rear apron with a black air diffuser, a rear lip spoiler, and a pair of twin tailpipes.

Audi's win at Le Mans with a diesel car fit in nicely with many automakers' evident decision to make clean diesel-powered cars the temporary fix for the U.S. energy crisis.

The 2.3L Duratec is surprisingly quick, though a bit throaty. From what I've read, it's pretty highly regarded, and I'm pleased with it overall. The only problem is the gear-hunting from the 4-speed automatic when going over hills and mountains. That's to be expected in a 4-cylinder automatic in a fairly large vehicle. But for daily driving, it's wonderful. The CD4E automatic transmission has had some past issues, but from what I've seen and read, they're mostly in the past. With reasonable driving style and proper routine maintenance, I think it will do just fine.

I own a 96 XLT. It has power windows, locks, cruise, 4wheel ABS, power lumbar, cd, tilt, etc. It's a step below the eddie bauer, I'm simply missing the leather and compass/ garage bin mounted on the headliner.I have yet to experience any negatives with my ride. It has the 5.8 windsor, excellent for offroading and towing. And I only average a few miles less than the good ole 5.0.Recently it has been averaging about 16mpg in town and close to 20+ on the freeway. It is currently running on 32inch BFG Mud Terrains which in my opinion are the only tire you should run on this rig, but that is only my opinion.( HOWARD WILNER says - V8 music and muscle is a dream)

In the last 17 years, no vehicle in America outsold the Ford F-150 on a monthly or yearly basis�not once. In May of this year, however, Honda moved more Civics and Accords and Toyota more Corollas and Camrys than Ford�s best-seller. This shift has less to do with a change in Americans� vehicular preferences than the fact that trucks guzzle fuel, the cost of which has doubled in the last three years.
